Specials identifies a new phase in the development of graphic design, one marked by the combination of digital technology with a re-acquaintance with hands-on skills, the tactile qualities of real (as opposed to virtual) materials and traditional techniques. The creative result of this ‘awkward operation’ when juxtaposed with slick computer-generated imagery, is the production of refreshingly simple, humorous and aesthetically diverse design solutions.
